The AMD Radeon RX 9060 (released in August 2025) is the entry-level representative of the new RDNA 4 architecture. This generation marks a significant shift, focusing heavily on AI-powered upscaling (FSR 4) and a massive leap in Ray Tracing efficiency.
Important Note on Availability
Unlike previous generations, the base RX 9060 (Non-XT) is currently an OEM-exclusive card. This means you generally cannot buy it as a standalone part for a custom build; it is sold primarily inside pre-built PCs from companies like HP, Alienware, or CyberPower. If you are looking for a card to buy off the shelf, you would look at the RX 9060 XT.
Main Features (RDNA 4)
3rd-Gen Ray Tracing: This is the biggest hardware jump. The 9060 features significantly redesigned Ray Tracing accelerators that handle complex lighting much better than the 7000 or 6000 series.
FSR 4 with AI Upscaling: Similar to NVIDIA’s DLSS, FSR 4 now uses the dedicated AI Accelerators on the chip to provide much cleaner image quality and more stable frame generation.
PCIe 5.0 Support: The 9060 is one of the first mainstream cards to support the ultra-fast PCIe 5.0 interface, ensuring zero bandwidth bottlenecks on modern motherboards.
Efficiency Focus: With a typical power draw of only 132W, it is incredibly easy to cool and can run on very modest power supplies.
